Winter is a magical land

Nature is covered with deep winter snow
Transforming my forest into something new
A palace of crystals and glitter and ice
Slowly in silence, eyes full of awe
I walk through a quiet fairy tale world

A squirrel is jumping between icy branches
With frost in his thick winter fur
Finches and tits bring some colour to winter
Prancing in red, blue, green and gold
With rooks shining black in the snow

A small flock of geese can be heard in the distance
Searching for water still free of ice
An eagle is soaring up there on the blue sky
Next to a low hanging pale distant sun
Soon to give way for the moon

I keep on walking slowly homewards
It’s cold and the sun will be setting quite soon
Now I’m longing for candles, hot tea and cocoa
And I’m dreaming in wonderful mid winter air
Winter is a magical land
